Community

As I walked through my home town today I was struck by the numbers of people going about their daily business seemingly disconnected from each other. No-one seemed to be aware of the mass of humanity that passed them by on either side. No-one stopped to acknowledge the beauty of the fact that so many people can live in relative harmony in such close proximity to one another. No-one spoke to anyone else. No-one looked at anyone else unless to avoid them. I guess that there was nothing unusual about this. It's a safe bet that this is what happens in all towns and cities and villages the world over: disconnected beings intent on their own slice of time and space. Still, it is a fact that as a species we do have a remarkable facility for building vast functioning communities in spite of our many failings. In spite of our penchant for dominance over other members of the community. In spite of our tendency towards violence and repression. In spite of the many dysfunctional attributes that would lead a being out there in the vastness as they looked down, to think that as a species there is no way that we could build a community of any sort. But we do and we have been building them successfully through the millennia. Quite an extraordinary thing really.

I guess that the mortar that binds communities together is the one quality that we all share that is in fact greater and more pervasive than any of the more destructive and ego-driven attributes that we have a tendency towards. That sole quality is love.

Love is not something that we simply express to our partners or to our children or parents or friends. Nor is it a limp and ephemeral emotion that can blow away like gossamer in the wind. Love is the inferno from which the universe was born. Love rages. Love is dynamic and powerful. Love constantly washes across the face of humanity like a huge tidal wave. Love is PASSION. It is indeed the stuff from which we are made. We are the living embodiments of this power that dwarfs everything else in existence. It IS the stuff of which the whole universe is made. It IS the living ever-present dynamic expression of the hand of God/the power of enlightenment manifest not only in the here and now but through every second of time from it's creation through every second of time until the last cosmic clock ticks its final second. We are not just an expression or a fragment of this universal power, we ARE the vast and infinite universal energy field of love. Within each one of us small and limited individuals resides all that is, all that ever has been and all that ever will be. We are the Universe and there is nothing beyond or outside of us. This is what binds us together and enables us to build such miraculous communities in which we can function. It is love that binds all of this together. Love is the only true operative force that there is.

When we build a spiritual community either in the physical world or one that has no borders and exists simply as a an expression of cyber space, we build something that is also, like our towns and cities, built with the power of love.

The Humanity Healing Network is such a community. It is a community that recognises no borders or distinctions between one person and another and assumes as given that all are equal in their sense of divine purpose. The HH Network is a conscious expression of love. There is nothing limp wristed about this love. This is a love that carries more force, more power than all the destructive magatons in the world. That is why as a community, the HH Network cannot fail. Love after all never fails no more than the sun fails to rise in the sky. Clouds can obscure of course and problems arise, but love always wins out because even the clouds are simply a different expression of the same inherent propensity towards wonder. As long as in our sense of community we continue to see the opportunity within every down turn of fortune and can see that in fact the sun is still shining behind the blackest of clouds then HH cannot fail.

In this mission to spread the doctrine of love and compassion wherever it is needed, each one of us must look to ourselves and see what it is that we can do to progress our noble ideals. We also need to look at ourselves and search within to find that which is not conducive to community. Ego-driven agendas don't help any of us. A predilection for power and a propensity to try to wield the biggest club is not only harmful to the community it is also destructive to the individual who has failed to acknowledge their divine right to true equality within an equality-based community.

Too many times in spiritual communities as in any other sort of community, mutually supported agendas are hijacked by a minority with a vested interest in ego-inflation. Spiritual coup's happen as often as any other sort of coup. So to ensure that this does not happen here in Humanity Healing, I think that it is the duty of everyone of us to look deeply within ourselves and ask ourselves what it is that we personally, we as individualized sparks of divine power, wish to get out of the Humanity Healing Network and what is it that we really wish to offer to it? What are we really doing to further this noble cause or is our motivation lacking in altruism?

We all have a great opportunity here to fan the flames that is the raging inferno of love. We have within the core of our beings the beginnnings and the endings of all that is and every will be - we are one in this effort. We are love. Don't let the befuddled mind of the ego with it's silly attachments drive your agenda and thus your involvement in Humanity Healing. So, let's celebrate our community, built consciously of love and let us all try to ellevate our aspirations for what is a truly global spiritual phenomenon in gestation. Love always makes a difference to the whole. Ego simply drives the fool to further lunacy.

Many blessings and metta,

Steve
